ARO Science for Today

    For the later part of June and the first part of July 2005, ARO will be participating in a world-wide scientific endeavor to investigate the interior of a comet.

    ARO will train both of it high precision millimeter and submillimeter radio telescopes toward Tempel 1 as it's being impacted by a 850 Lb copper projectile. It is our goal to investigate the interior chemical composition of the comet by observing the ejected material in the millimeter and submillimeter wavelengths.
